As a result of some recent internal moves within the club we have some exciting changes taking place. Just for all to know please read the message below.

Mr Hugh McDonald, a very long standing member of the Club, who is also our Race Starter, has now been elected as Vice President of the Club. We decided to elect Hugh into this role, much against his better judgment! He has always been known as a mainstay of the Park, and for many years was Manager of the Welsh Race Team, competing in the well renowned Celtic Match Races.

Hugh is very well respected throughout the racing world, and we could not think of anyone more befitting of the title.

Newly appointed Race Entries Secretary Marion Carnall has been a long time supporter of Aberdare Park Races. She started as a team manager for racer Mike Skidmore, then began marshalling and working on the start line. Marion then progressed to helping Yvonne out in the race office bus on race days.

In 27 years, Marion has only missed two visits to Aberdare Park due to date clashes with NG Road Racing. Marion has long been associated with NG Road Racing as both marshal and now Director. For ten years she was Race Entries and Membership Secretary and enjoyed a close relationship with all the riders. Marion has now moved away from that role but is staying with NG as Rider Liaison, Social Secretary, Awards and Charity Co-ordinator.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the Aberdare Race Meetings. You can reach Marion on 07948 807202.

Just a little note from the Chairman to say we have got it!

The Park gets the very latest hi-tec racing surface, major inward investment ensures your enjoyment for years to come.

Watch the video in our Video Gallery.

After last year's terrible weather and poor crowd attendance I fear that a lot of people may well have had Aberdare Park National Road Races written off. Well how wrong they were! During the long cold winter months of 2009 I went in search of funding and as the headline says: We have got it! So for the weekend of 24th 25th July 2010 and for many many more years to come you will be racing or indeed watching the racing on the very latest hi-tec racing surface. We are also starting to gear up towards transponder timing but that will be something for the future NOT for this year.

Now after having read the above statement I bet you are all saying "Who is going to pay for all of this work. Will It be the paying spectator or will come from rider entrance money". Well, rumour has It that nothing is changing and nothing Is going up. The club has seen big changes during 2009 and we are going into a very modern future in a very modern way. Watch the website, watch the news. Our new track is the only one to use. We are back bigger and better than ever.

Over the coming weeks I will get some pictures onto the site for everyone to see what can only be termed as Progress in the Park!

Another new addition for 2010: our all new hospitality tent. Tickets are £25 per person per day, or £40 for a weekend pass, which will entitle you to hot/cold buffet style food, hot/cold drinks, tented seating area to watch the races on the famous esses offering great views of the Park, and paddock exit, or you can just sit and watch our friendly chef peddle his wares all day.
